Are You Paying Attention?

Touchstone is an "attention management system" designed to filter the tidal wave of information being generated on the Internet every second. Between personal and client feeds, I have thousands of links coming into my feed reader every single day (which could explain why I can't tell left from right at the end of the day). I've had the chance to use the Alpha and "Almost Beta" version of the software. Touchstone aims to provide content consumers with a way to filter and priortize their information in an orderly and sensible way. Whether you prefer the stock ticker, the pop up alert, or cursor sticky, there is a use here for users who need or wish to keep an eye on a select group of sites. It may not be for all people, but I think the software does a good job of staying fairly unintrusive and doesn't seem to be a resource hog.

From the site:

The web is just too big. No one has time to keep track of all the sites, conversations and interesting bits and pieces that are out there. We each have real work to do!

So what if you could subscribe to the sites you like best, and then when they change you're notified in one of many nifty ways.

Touchstone can even work out how important the new information is and display an alert that is proportional to its importance to you.

For example, general information might be displayed on a news ticker, important stuff might appear on a popup alert and life and death information might be SMSed to your phone.
